Tony Hubbard
Brooklyn, NY
Tony Hubbard is the Head Coach and Program Director of Williamsburg Baseball Academy and the driving force behind its rapid growth into one of Brooklyn’s premier youth baseball programs.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Tony earned his degree in Exercise and Sports Science with minors in Mathematics and Psychology. At UNC, one of the nation’s top academic and athletic institutions, he competed in both varsity and club baseball environments, gaining exposure to high-level training systems, strength programming, and player development models that now shape WBA’s structure.
Before UNC, Tony was an All-State pitcher and outfielder, finishing his senior season with a batting average above .450. His experience competing at a high level as both a two-way player and student-athlete informs his approach to teaching mechanics, preparation, and competitive mindset.
Tony founded WBA with a simple but ambitious vision: deliver elite-level baseball training in a structured, character-driven environment without sacrificing fun, accessibility, or community connection. Since launching in February 2025 with just three players, the program has grown into sold-out summer camps, multiple seasonal sessions, and a maintained 5:1 coach-to-player ratio that ensures meaningful individual attention.
His coaching philosophy is rooted in biomechanics, efficient movement patterns, and long-term athletic development. He prioritizes clean throwing mechanics, controlled rotational hitting patterns, and intelligent defensive positioning, always emphasizing repeatability and injury prevention. Beyond technical instruction, Tony teaches baseball IQ, leadership, emotional control, and accountability.
Parents value his organization, communication, and high standards. Players respond to his clarity, energy, and belief in their potential. His goal is not only to prepare athletes for travel baseball and advanced competition, but to develop confident young leaders who understand how to compete with integrity.
Under Tony’s leadership, Williamsburg Baseball Academy continues to set a higher standard for youth baseball training in Brooklyn and beyond.

A breakdown of Tony’s key coaching philosophies and strengths.
-
Advanced Pitching
Coach Tony specializes in advanced pitching development built on biomechanics, efficiency, and long-term arm health. Drawing from his experience as an All-State pitcher and his background in Exercise and Sports Science, he focuses on repeatable mechanics, lower-half power generation, rotational sequencing, and command within the strike zone. Sessions emphasize arm care, pitch design fundamentals, mental composure, and in-game strategy. Tony’s approach prepares serious pitchers to compete confidently at travel and high-level youth competition while protecting their durability for long-term development.
-
Advanced Bat Path
Coach Tony teaches advanced bat path development through a biomechanics-driven approach focused on efficient sequencing, barrel control, and consistent on-plane contact. His instruction emphasizes lower-half engagement, hip-shoulder separation, adjustable attack angles, and clean hand path through the zone. Players learn how to generate controlled power without sacrificing balance or plate discipline. Sessions are designed for serious hitters looking to refine swing efficiency, improve barrel accuracy, and translate high-quality practice reps into game-speed results.
-
Advanced Fielding
Coach Tony trains advanced fielders using movement efficiency, anticipation, and high-level situational awareness. Instruction focuses on first-step explosiveness, controlled footwork patterns, glove-to-throw transfer speed, and creating clean throwing lanes under pressure. Players learn how to read hops, adjust body angles, and make accurate throws from multiple arm slots while maintaining balance and tempo. Sessions are designed for competitive athletes looking to sharpen defensive instincts and perform confidently at travel and higher levels of play.
-
Advanced Baseball IQ
Coach Tony develops advanced baseball IQ by teaching players how to think the game at a high level. Sessions focus on pitch sequencing, situational awareness, defensive positioning, baserunning reads, and understanding game tempo. Players learn how to anticipate plays before they happen, control momentum, and make smart decisions under pressure. Tony emphasizes communication, leadership, and emotional discipline, helping serious athletes move beyond mechanics and into true competitive command of the game.

Recruiting and College Advice
Coach Tony provides honest, strategic guidance for families navigating the recruiting and college baseball landscape. Drawing from his experience as a former All-State player and UNC student-athlete, he helps players understand realistic pathways, development timelines, and the standards required at each level of competition. Sessions focus on academic alignment, video preparation, communication with coaches, showcase selection, and long-term positioning rather than quick exposure. Tony’s approach emphasizes building a complete student-athlete profile, ensuring players are prepared both athletically and academically for the opportunities ahead.
